Mission

The program review process is grounded in the continuous improvement model and supports academic programs in maintaining the highest standards of education. It provides opportunities for the departments and programs to discuss and further develop plans for how their campus roles, educational goals, and curricula support the College-wide Strategic Plan, school-level priorities, and other student success metrics. It is also a reflective exercise in which programs identify their strengths and concerns, and review with faculty colleagues and college leadership how the program’s contributions to the College may be continued and enhanced. 

Academic program reviews are facilitated by faculty serving on the Program Review Committee and supported by the Institutional and Educational Effectiveness division.

Program Review Cycle

Academic programs are reviewed comprehensively by the program review committee every 8 years. The comprehensive review requires the following materials and process.

  1. Self-Study
  2. External Review & Program's Response to the Review
  3. Dean's Letter
  4. Meeting with the Program and the Program Review Committee
  5. Program Review Committee's (PRC) Letter

After the PRC letter is issued, the program finalizes its action plan and assessment schedule. The Chair or Director of the program updates the action plan and assessment schedule on an annual basis. The annual update is meant to support the programs make steady progress and document accomplishments so the comprehensive review can focus on meaningful reflection and future planning.

Strategic Priorities and Institutional Data

Programs should consider the Strategic Plan and Institutional Learning Goals as they make future plans. In addition to the Key Performance Indicator Dashboard and Interactive Fact Book, programs under review receive a data profile that details enrollment trend, time to degree completion, and course-level statistics.
