2024 Family Homecoming:  October 4-6

 

GET EXCITED FOR FAMILY WEEKEND

Family Homecoming is a time for families to reconnect with their students, other Saint Mary's families, faculty, staff and alumni.  We encourage you to take advantage of your time on campus: hike to the cross, visit the Museum of Art, or hang out in the quad!  

WHEN IS THE NEXT FAMILY WEEKEND?

Family Homecoming generally takes place a month after students have started fall semester courses. Family Homecoming 2024 will take place Oct. 4-6, 2024. Scroll down for a full schedule of events.

If you require overnight lodging at the time of Parent and Family Weekend, see below for hotels in the Concord/Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek/Lafayette area.

2024 Family Homecoming Schedule

1pm-5pm - Family Resource Table Open, Outside Student Involvement & Leadership, Ferroggiaro Hall

Stop by to pick up some swag and a schedule for the weekend!

1pm - Feel Good Friday, Intercultural Center

Check out Folklore Feel Good Friday at the Intercultural Center; Sponsored by the South Asian Society (SAS) and Asian Pacific American Student Association (APASA), this free event will feature a variety of activities, Asian snacks, and pizza from Curry House.

2:30-4pm - Campus Open Houses

  • Campus Housing, ground floor of Augustine Hall
  • Residential Experience, De La Salle Hall, Room 117
  • Student Health Center, ground floor of Augustine Hall
  • Residence Hall Tours, leave from Campus Housing (Augustine Hall)

6pm - Dinner with Your Student 

Dine on campus at one of our retail locations or take your student to a local restaurant

6-9pm - Oktoberfest Sponsored by Campus Activities Board, Gael Force and Residence Hall Association, 1928 Pub

Enjoy traditional Oktoberfest snacks and the chance to score a custom stein.  Participants of all ages are welcome; must be 21+ to consume alcohol.

9am-3pm - Saint Mary's Bookstore Open 

Grab some Gael gear at the Bookstore!

10am-4pm - Saint Mary's Art Museum Open 

Throughout the day, take time to explore the Art Museum and its newest exhibits. 

9:30am -11:00am - Check In, Continental Breakfast and Mimosa Bar, Dryden Hall

Stop by to pick up some swag and a quick bite before starting your day.

9:30am-1pm - Off Campus Volunteer Opportunity:  Lady Bug Bages at St. Monica Catholic Church, 1001 Camino Pablo

Assemble hygiene kits for homeless and underserved women. Kits are distributed directly and through Monument Crisis Center and other Non Profits.

10am-1pm - Off Campus Volunteer Opportunity: Painting Fun with Rocks & Pots, Hacienda, 2100 Donald Drive

Painting Fun with Pots & Rocks donated to local Seniors A community beautification project where volunteers will paint rocks and pots to add color and creativity to our shared spaces and donate to local seniors.

10am-11pm - Choose Your Own SMC Adventure!

  • The History of Saint Mary's College Presented by Brother David Caretti, FSC, Hagerty Lounge
  • Hike to Cross, leave from Dryden Hall
  • Library Archives Scavenger Hunt 
    • Stop by the Library Archives, grab your scavenger hunt clues, and have some fun! Return your answers to the Library by 5pm to be entered into a drawing.
  • Building Your Brand with Steve Hernandez, Director of Graduate Career Services, School of Economics and Business Administration, Galileo 201
    • It's never too soon to start! In this session you will learn:
    • The importance of your professional brand as a tool for career exploration.
    • Identify the core component of one's professional brand.
    • Brand delivery tools, LinkedIn, resume, network.

10:45-11:45am - Tour of University Credit Union Pavilion, Leave from Dryden Hall

11:30am-1:00pm - Parent Reception*, Siena House (*Parents Only)

1pm - Men's Soccer v. LMU, SMC Stadium

2-4pm - School of Science Summer Research Program:  Student Poster Session, Brousseau Hall

Learn about the amazing research being done by students in the School of Science!  Students who participated in the Summer Research Program will present their research findings in a poster session.  Talk to researchers and their mentors, learn about the science, and hear about the Summer Research Program.

3-4pm - Meet the Deans, Hagerty Lounge

Families, students and alums have the opportunity to mix and mingle with the  Deans and Associate Deans from the School of Science, School of Liberal Arts, School of Economics and Business Administration and Kalmanovitz School of Education.

4pm - Women's Soccer v. Oregon State, SMC Stadium

4:30pm - Rugby National Champion Ring Ceremony, Pat Vincent Field

5pm-6pm - Wine & Cheese Reception, 1928 Pub

All parents and families are invited to join Student Life for a relaxing social in the 1928 Pub.  Students are welcome; participants must be 21+ to consume alcohol.

7:30-8:30pm - Trivia and Game Night (hosted by the Campus Experience), 1928 Pub

9am-3pm - Bookstore Open

11am - Student & Family Mass, Chapel
