John Macken '62 (1959-1962). Mr. Macken is an SMC physics alum, a scientific inventor, the team’s benefactor since 2002, and a current member of SMC’s Board of Trustees. He debated for SMC with Joe Siler. |
Joe Siler '62 (1959-1962). Mr. Siler is an SMC alum, a team donor, and a former member of SMC’s Board of Regents. He debated for SMC with John Macken, and facilited the establishment of the Kurt W. Simon endowment for team scholarships. To read more about Kurt W. Simon's work and learn more about the man, visit Cathy B. Glenn, PhD (2006-2014). As Director of Forensics and head coach for SMC Debate & Speech, Dr. Glenn ontinued Mr. Hanecak's work by developing the programmatic elements of Macken Forensics. During her tenure, Dr. Glenn was responsible for moving SMC up more than 100 places in the National Parliamentary Debate Association's rankings and she coached the first SMC team to qualify for the National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence. Currently, Dr. Glenn is an author, advocate, and consultant and can be found on LinkedIn. John Hanecak (2002-2006). With Mr. Macken's initial 2002 gift to the college, John Hanecak coached the speech and debate club during its process of moving toward a programmatic framework. Mr. Hanecak is currrently chair of the Performing Arts department at Diablo Valley College and a former Pleasant Hill City Council member. |

Ana Diaz '11
(2007-2011). Ana was 2010-2011 team captain, was awarded the Thomas Jefferson award from the Politics Department, and graduated from SMC in 2011 with a degree in Political Science. She currently works for a major retailer, volunteered her time as an assistant coach when she could, and has gifted the program. |

(2011-2012). Alina currently attends SMC as an Environmental Science major.

(2010-2014). Noah graduated from SMC in 2014 with a degree in History, and was the team's captain and SMC Student Debate Union president during the 2013-2014 season. He was part of the first team to qualify and attend the National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence. He has been accepted to law school and begins studies in fall 2014.

Elizabeth Patterson '10
(2006-2010). Elizabeth was the 2009-2010 team captain, was awarded an NPDA All American award in 2010, and graduated in 2010 with both Politics and Business Administration degrees. She graduated from law school in 2013 and volunteers her time to the team when she can. |
Maggie Powers '14 (2010-2012). Maggie was a Resident Advisor in 2012-2013 after her time on the team, and graduated in 2014 with degrees in Women's Studies and Anthropology.

Miranda Rowley '16 (2012-2016). Miranda graduated SMC with a degree in Women and Gender studies and now attends law school. In addition to being part of the first team to clear to elimination rounds at the National Parliamentary tournament of Excellence, win an elimination round at the National Parliamentary Debate Association in Saint Mary's school history making it to the top 32, and Miranda also was the first student in school history to receive a speaker award at nationals. |
Esteban Salinas '11
(2007-2009). Esteban graduated with an Integral degree from SMC in 2011 and currenlty works for a premiere social media corporation. |

Carment Terlaje '16 (2012-2016). Carmen graduated from Saint Mary's with a Global and Regional studies degree. In addition to being part of the first team to clear to elimination rounds at the National Parliamentary tournament of Excellence and win an elimination round at the National Parliamentary Debate Association in Saint Mary's school history making it to the top 32. Carmen was also the recipient of the Student Scholar award at the Latino/a Graduation ceremony. |
