Become A Peer Tutor

Body

Your assistance goes a long way towards creating a dedicated and dynamic team

*If you have previously been employed by TASC as a tutor, each new term you need to fill out the returning tutor application. Please contact the TASC Coordinator for more specifics.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

Tutors for TASC are professional student leaders looking to enrich the academic experience of their fellow students as well as themselves. Tutors are expected to attend bi-annual trainings (Fall and Spring).  Each semester tutors coordinate with the tutoring director about their availability. Tutoring sessions are scheduled based on need. Once a tutor is scheduled to meet with a student, that date and time is a standing appointment. This means the tutor is expected to be in TASC for the entirety of that scheduled session every week, even in the case that no students come in for tutoring. Tutors are expected to sign in and out for their sessions using the computer kiosk in TASC. Tutors should remind their students to check-in and out as well. Tutors are paid! Tutors keep track of hours they work and input them into Gaelxpress on time. Timesheets are due every other Sunday.

Peer tutors are a paid leadership position on campus.  Tutors must:

  • have reached Sophomore academic standing by Fall 2024.
  • have a minimum overall GPA of 2.50.
  • have earned a final grade of B in the course(s) in which they tutor.
  • have a faculty recommendation or endorsement to become a tutor.
