1. In the Bay Area

 

BAIA Business Association Italy America offers internships to students of Italian who are fluent in English and Italian and have some business/marketing or engineering background and computer literacy. Students work with professionals in the Bay Area. These are 12-week programs, 25 hours per week, with a flexible schedule. Some travel expenses will be covered.

Organizations that find internship opportunities

Global Experience. This is a program that offers internships for all levels of Italian and in a variety of sectors. Some of the internships include a language course prior to the work experience. The cost depends on whether an Italian course is included and on the individual positions.

Go Abroad is a compilation of study (including high school programs), internships, volunteer, language, and employment options.

The International Institution of Education is an organization that offers

250 programs worldwide ranging from study to internships. They sponsor many scholarships, perhaps the most famous of which is the Fulbright.

Aiesec. Offers one- to three-month internships to graduate and undergraduate students who want practical experience in business related fields if their schools have AIESEC chapters

Practigo Live the Language, is a company who offers internships in the Florence, Milan and Rome. They have a network covering a lot of fields in addition to language courses.

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection Museum in Venice, Italy - Ideal for Art History and Anthropology majors

 

5. Schools and Institutes that offer internships

 

Study in Italy, Genoa offers a large variety of internships from government jobs to theater and music, from law office work to school opportunities. Students must have a good knowledge of Italian and need to pay a fee to the school of $1,500. They go from one to three months.

The Istituto Europeo in Florence offers internship programs dedicated to providing hands on experiences in various businesses in Florence. Students who apply for an internship are required to take language classes at the Institute. Students don’t need to be fluent in Italian to apply.
