Frequently Asked Questions FAQs

Simple Syllabus is integrated within Canvas. 

  • After signing in to Canvas, select the course to which you want to create a syllabus for.
  • Select "Simple Syllabus" from the course navigation
  • A frame within the screen should appear with an editable version of the syllabus

You can also access Simple Syllabus through MySMC by selecting the Simple Syllabus icon in All Apps. Once you select the Simple Syllabus App you will be directed to your Syllabus Dashboard. 

Yes, Simple Syllabus is available in ALL Canvas courses via the course navigation. 

It is recommended to use Chrome or Firefox and to avoid using Safari and Edge.

Advise students to use the Canvas app on their phone, not a browser.

Simple Syllabus allows instructors to track student engagement with syllabi using the student engagement feature. At the top of your published syllabus, click on the blue horizontal bar for a detailed breakdown of syllabus engagement by student. 

Yes, once you've created a syllabus using the Simple Syllabus template, you can create a printable PDF version or save the PDF for your records. 

Click on Print at the top of your published syllabus to download a PDF version.

Absolutely! Simple Syllabus allows for the creation of program-specific templates to ensure that syllabi meet the unique requirements and standards of different academic programs. 

If your program needs a custom template, please submit a ticket for an Edtech consultation. Make sure your request is submitted at least 30 days prior to the start of the term.
