The motivation and desire to start the Women’s Club Basketball was to fill the void of recreational basketball opportunities for Women on campus. Traditionally the Intramural leagues are heavily weighted with male participants. The students who expressed interest to start the club wanted to ensure a place where women’s basketball players could come out and play with fewer restrictions of intramural league participation. Player Melody Villar ’24, who serves as Women’s Club Basketball President, says, “This team provides our community a place where female athletes have a space to do what they love. This club allows us the players to continue to play a sport they love.”

The team is headed into their final competitions matchups this weekend as they travel to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on March 9 and again in April.
