Professional Overview

Lerner-Wright studied at Northwestern University, where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music as a cello performance major. Before Northwestern, Anne studied Spanish Literature at Bryn Mawr College and in Madrid. She moved from her native Chicago in 1989 to study with Irene Sharp at the San Francisco Conservatory, where she earned a Master of Music in Cello Performance. Anne has performed with many Bay Area orchestras and is a frequent performer of chamber music and solo recitals. During 2016-2021, she was the cellist with Ensemble For These Times, an award-winning, new music ensemble based in Berkeley. An equally important part of Anne’s musical life is music education. She is on the faculty of Dominican University as well as St. Mary’s and has a large private cello studio. In addition to being a cellist, Anne is a conductor of orchestras for young musicians. She conducts the Overture String Ensemble and Crescendo Orchestra as part of the Marin Symphony Youth Programs and teaches Orchestra at San Rafael High School. She and her two small dogs live in Sonoma.
