Living in Community

Welcome! We’re so excited to begin our partnership with you! The Office of Community Life offers multiple services to members of our Gael community to educate and support our fellow Gaels as they live and work in our campus community. These services recognize that conflict is a natural part of living in community and are designed to foster social and restorative justice, while assisting members of our community in navigating challenging discourse in an inclusive, equitable and safe manner. If you have additional questions, please contact us at 925-631-4238 or .

Creating a strong community is achieved through each Gael practicing and cultivating integrity, responsibility, and accountability. The Office of Community Life at Saint Mary's College supports a safe and scholarly community where community members’ personal development is supported through aiding their understanding of how one's actions impact others as well as their responsibilities as a member of the Gael Community. We offer a variety of services to support students’ development throughout their experience at the College. In addition to the services we offer, we are the stewards of the SMC Student Code of Conduct.

All students at SMC are responsible for adhering to the policies and processes that are described in the Student Code of Conduct. The Student Code of Conduct, which is located in the Student Handbook, serves to outline student rights and responsibilities and guidelines for living in community. If a potential violation of the Student Conduct Code is brought to our attention, the Office of Community Life staff will assist students in navigating the process.
